Dover Baptist Church Events and Groups
Regularly Scheduled Weekly Activities
Sunday School:
Begin your week with us each Sunday morning at10:00 a.m. We assemble in the sanctuary to worship God through music and the reading of the scripture as outlined in our Sunday School quarterlies. Age-based classes are offered from birth through senior adulthood immediately following the assembly. We are blessed to have a wonderful group of teachers who are faithful to the call.
Sunday Morning Worship and Children’s Church :
Our morning worship starts at 11:00 am. Join us as we praise His name through music and the hearing of God’s Word. We enjoy some of the most spirit led and spirit filled services you will ever attend.
Morning worship isn’t only for adults – a very special time is set aside to minister to children, in their own language, during the Children’s Sermon every week. Following this message, children aged 0-2 will return to the nursery, and children aged 3-5 will proceed to Children’s Church.
Sunday Evening Worship:
On the first and third Sunday evenings of each month, we are privileged to gather again to share in the gospel of Christ. This special time is truly nourishment for our souls as we uplift God’s name and each other in a time of personal testimony to the work God is doing in our individual lives and in our church.
Wednesday Night:
Everyone has a place in the activities at Dover on Wednesday nights. Most Wednesdays, activities start at 7:00 pm. Nursery is provided for children birth through 2 years.
We are excited to invite all children, ages 3 through 6th grade, to take part in our growing TeamKid program. The TeamKid program provides children with the spiritual foundation that will strengthen them throughout their entire lives.
Our Youth Pastor engages the youth in interactive discussion-based Bible study related to the challenges and issues they encounter in their daily lives.
Our Pastor leads adults in a growing Bible study. Everyone has the opportunity to participate, to ask questions, and to grow in the knowledge of God’s Word. The lessons learned during these services are certain to impact your life and your stand for Christ.
In addition to these regular activities, the first Wednesday night of each month, we will have mid-week supper in the fellowship hall at 6:00 P.M. The Special Events Committee has selected the menu for each month, however, they will be enlisting help to prepare the meals.
Highlighted Activities for Everyone
Our Vacation Bible School is an exciting week of fun and learning for all ages. Classes are provided for everyone from birth through adult. Preparations are underway for next summer’s. Plan now to attend VBS 2010 during the evenings of June 20th through June 25th.
Holiday activities include special Easter, Thanksgiving, and New Year services. The Christmas season provides opportunity for caroling in the community, and participating in the Christmas play.
Highlighted Activities for Children
Once a month, kids are invited to participate in their own time of fellowship during Kid’s Night Out. Games, crafts, and food are just some of the activities they enjoy in the absence of their parents! In December, Kid’s Night Out becomes Kid’s Day Out, a full day of various activities, giving parents an opportunity to finish shopping.
Our children take part in an Easter Egg Hunt each spring. In addition to the hunt, children in 2003 enjoyed a time of face painting, games, and a message reminding them of the true meaning of Easter. We look forward to continuing this in upcoming years!
Each Christmas, children are encouraged to take part in holiday festivities by participating in the Christmas play as well as the special Children’s program. This special service reminds everyone, young and old, to focus on the true meaning of Christmas.
Highlighted Activities for Youth
The regular times for youth activities are Sunday School each Sunday morning at 10:00 A.M.; worship at 11:00 A.M.; Evening Youth Services on 1st and 3rd Sunday nights at 6:00 P.M. Sunday Evening Youth Services are geared to strengthen the bond between the students as well as between the students and Jesus. The youth meet on Wednesday evening at 7:00 P.M. for their Bible Study. Other activities are planned during the year.
Highlighted Activities for Young Adults
Young Adult I Sunday School:
Our Young Adult I Sunday School class is a little different from your average class. Each person is encouraged to ask any question that he or she might have. We also share in open discussions about the problems and/or situations that we face in our daily walk through life. The goal of our Sunday School is to teach:
Salvation to those who are lost.
Love to those in need.
Support for those who need uplifting.
Encouragement for those who need an encouraging word.
Young Adult Day:
Held annually in April, this day is very special to the young adults of our congregation. They lead all of the activities of the day, from special music to the preaching of the Word. Much preparation goes into the day, and the reward is great for everyone involved and everyone who shares in the day. God is surely doing a wonderful work in the hearts and lives of our young adults!
Young Adult Night Out:
Approximately every other month, parents leave their children with babysitters while they meet to enjoy a time of fun, food, and fellowship with each other. This is an opportunity to learn more about each other and ourselves as we share our experiences and challenges in a variety of formats.
Every summer, usually around the end of July, a special cookout is planned for the Young Adults and their children. This time of family fellowship is essential in growing healthy Christian families.
Unfortunately, our busy holiday schedules make it difficult to meet during the months of October, November and December. However, the annual Christmas play provides ample opportunity for gathering together to celebrate the holiday season. For the past several years, the Young Adults have filled many roles in the play. The awesome performance is something you have to see to believe!
Highlighted Activities for Seniors
Our Senior Saints meet monthly for a time of fun, food and fellowship. Meetings sometimes include: shopping, special singing and/or special speakers.
